Plight of Baloch population

October 8, 2017

QUETTA: On October 5th, with a blast at the Sufi shrine of Fatehpur, a town in Jhal Magsi district of Balochistan, the violence broke the hiatus of the short-lived peace in the region.

Struck with a second attack in a year at a shrine, the suicide attack is another among the many grievances of the disgruntled Baloch population.

Frequent terror attacks, internal displacement and migration, missing persons, unfair share of resources, development and investment has certainly played its part in adding to the discontent of the Baloch population against the state and its policies.

Although the state is somehow helpful in tackling the external intervention in the region through the vast border the province shares with violence-stricken neighbouring regions, the Balochistan issue much like the Kashmir issue is one that the successive governments have failed to resolve.

Deprived of development and basic infrastructure, the plight of the Baloch population is evident when compared to other provinces.
