Bad news for Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Patty, and Linus fans: the house of Peanuts comic strip creator Charles Schulz was destroyed in the wildfires raging through Northern California.

The cartoonist’s home in Santa Rosa burned Monday along with thousands of other homes and businesses in the area, according to the Associated Press. More than 32 people have died in the inferno.

Schulz died back in 2000, but his wife Jean Schulz was still living in the Northern California home when the flames arrived. Her stepson Monte Schulz told the AP that she evacuated in time and was safe.  Read more…

Supernatural Season 13 opened on a more melancholy note than it has in years, with Sam and Dean grieving the apparent deaths of their mother, Mary; their angelic sidekick, Castiel; and even their frenemy Crowley, all of whom were seemingly lost in the Season 12 finale.

A biker got a little revenge after a litterbug decided to leave a bag of trash in a parking lot. 

The biker, who was wearing a helmet cam, witness a man in a Bentley (of course) walk out of his car with a bag of trash and leave it in a parking lot. The man then drives off, and the biker goes to check out what’s in the bag.

Once the biker realizes it’s trash, he takes off after the litterer, with trash in hand. Once he catches up with the fancy car, the man knocks on the window, and redistributes the trash back to its rightful owner.

Sensational news headlines over the last couple days have promoted the idea that the formidable Yellowstone supervolcano “may blow sooner” and “could blow faster” than scientists previously thought. 

This makes it seem like Yellowstone is either threatening to erupt or might one day catastrophically explode with little warning, suffocating us frail humans under black, ashy skies.

But even if this research is accurate, we’ll still have decades of warning before an apocalyptic blast.

In the the last 2 million years, Yellowstone geologists believe that the supervolcano has had three major eruptions that unleashed hundreds of cubic miles of ash into Earth’s atmosphere. The source of these eruptions are enormous amounts of hot molten and semi-molten rock, or magma, which still sit under the park today. Scientists suspect that when enough pressure builds beneath the ground, Yellowstone will have another such major blast — although there’s no current evidence of impending doom. Read more…

Zappos is stepping up to help victims of a hometown tragedy.

The Las Vegas-based online shoe retailer said it would pay the funeral costs of any of the victims of the Mandalay Bay mass shooting, the Las Vegas Sun first reported. All families have to do is ask. 

The company, which is a subsidiary of Amazon, previously said it would match $1 million in crowdsourced donations to support everyone affected after Stephen Paddock opened fire on a country music festival crowd, killing 58 people in the deadliest shooting in American history. Read more…
