Nearly 2,000 spectators gathered in the Canadian city of Saskatoon last weekend to watch one of life’s simplest pleasures: giant fruit crushing stuff.

Per CBC News, the city’s first-ever Operation Pumpkin Drop was held to raise money for a local pediatric fund. The event featured three gargantuan pumpkins being dropped from a 40-foot crane, which is obviously perfect fodder for the Twitter videos that have been circulating since Sunday.

The infamous McDonald’s Szechuan sauce that was brought back to life by Rick and Morty this year is causing people to do some ridiculous things.  

A horde of rude fans berated fast food workers for a chance to taste a limited run of the sauce and one person even traded an actual car to get some.

Now popular youtube channel HealthyJunkFood is providing people with a recipe that kind of tastes just like the notorious sauce. 

In the video they theorize that the Szechuan sauce may be compromised of sesame oil, soy sauce flavor and hint of a pepper.   Read more…

Well, at least Rihanna’s having a good year.

Per Barbados publisher Nation News, Westbury New Road in the pop star’s hometown of St. Michael will soon bear the name Rihanna Drive. Congrats, girl!

A statement sent to Nation News from the Barbados Ministry of Tourism says the name change will go into effect in November on Independence Day. Rihanna even reportedly plans to turn out for the sign unveiling – wouldn’t you?

A street named in her honor is just the latest event in what seems to have been a pretty solid year for the musician. She’s shaking hands with world leaders and calling out Trump on Twitter! If you are, for some reason, ever in need of an extra shoe, Dave Grohl has your back. Or, more accurately, foot. 

At a recent concert, the Foo Fighters frontman helped out a fan suffering from a broken ankle and in need of a little foot protection.

During a backstage meet-and-greet with the Foo Fighters, fan @sabrynsucks showed up on crutches, due to an ankle injury. 

Per the fan’s now-viral tweet, Grohl’s own orthopedic doctor informed her that if she doesn’t wear shoes while on crutches, her ankle won’t heal.  Read more…

The post-tropical incarnation of Hurricane Ophelia slammed Ireland and the northern parts of the U.K., including Scotland, on Monday with damaging wind gusts, towering waves, coastal flooding, and a bizarre phenomenon related to wildfires burning in Portugal and Spain. 

As a hurricane, Ophelia set records for being the strongest storm ever observed so far to the north and east in the Atlantic Ocean. On Friday and Saturday, the storm brushed past the Azores as a Category 3 storm. Then, it underwent a rapid transition into an extratropical low pressure system, feeding off the differences in air masses and upper level energy from the jet stream, rather than heat and moisture drawn from the warm waters of the Atlantic.  Read more…
