'Star Wars' characters speak SO many languages and Charles Barkley isn't having it
March 4, 2018One of the best Saturday Night Live sketches this week was cut for time, but NBC acted quickly to get it up online. It makes sense, too. This sketch has it all: J.J. AbramsStar Wars things. Charles Barkley, even.
The premise is simple: Abrams is introducing another Star Wars spin-off movie, The Mos Eisley Five: A Star Wars Story. It’s about the group of smugglers that he says played a key in establishing the Rebel base on Hoth (the one from Empire Strikes Back).
In truth, Abrams’ clip reveal is an SNL sketch that asks why everyone in the Star Wars universe seems to speak and/or understand a dozen or more different alien or droid languages. Charles Barkley, this week’s guest host, does the asking. The comedy writes itself from there. Read more…

If there are two words that appear every Oscars season, they’re “snub” and “upset.”
Whether it’s through movies left off the list of Oscars nominees or shocking wins at the actual awards ceremony, the Academy Awards can leaving viewers asking “Just who is picking these damn winners?!”
The good news is that the Academy has in place an elaborate system in order to try to properly select and honor the best movies each year. The bad news is that it’s super, super complicated. This year’s rule book is 35 pages alone.
But as they say, knowledge is power. So here’s a beginner’s guide to how Oscars voting works. Read more…

It’s 8:30pm on a Wednesday night, and there’s only one thing on my mind: Netflix and chill. And, by ‘chill’ I mean drinking a glass of white wine alone on my sofa.
But, just as I hit play on the next episode of Queer Eye, the absolute worst happens. Netflix informs me that too many people are using this account.
The culprits? My beloved family. My mother, father, brother, and cousin all have access to my account. But, while offering up my password to my entire family might have seemed like a benevolent gesture at the time, I’m starting to regret it deeply.

Oscars 2018: The difference between Sound Editing and Sound Mixing explained
March 4, 2018The Oscars are back. Every year, it is night of celebration, celebrity-filled red carpets, well-tailored suits, glamorous dresses, and … confusion.
No, we’re not talking envelopes. We’re talking sound. Specifically: what the hell is the difference between Sound Mixing and Sound Editing?
Yes, if you didn’t know, there are several sound categories at the Academy Awards. Sound Editing and Sound Mixing are potentially the most confusing and there’s a big difference between the two. And unless you’re an audiophile or someone who can name the audio technicians on every theatrical release of the year (if this is you, I’m so sorry) then you’re probably clueless as to what that difference is. Brands realize they've been advertising on Alex Jones' YouTube channel, instantly peace out
March 4, 2018The hits keep on coming for Alex Jones.
Associating with Jones and his Infowars website is a bad look unless you’re a Donald Trump-stanning conspiracy theorist. So when a bunch of brands discovered their ads were running on YouTube accounts associated with Jones, they all had roughly the same response: lolno.
Nike, Moen, Expedia, Acer, ClassPass, Honey, Alibaba, and OneFamily all suspended their ads running on Infowars-connected YouTube channels after CNN reached out for comment. With the exception of Alibaba, which didn’t comment, all of those companies claimed they weren’t aware their ads had been appearing on The Alex Jones Channel. Read more…
