And the Oscar for Best Presenter goes to…the quiet but memorable BB8.
On Sunday, tiny robot BB8, the undisputed star (ha) of the Star Wars franchise, took the stage at the 2018 Oscars to present the awards for Best Animated Short Film and Best Animated Feature Film.
(Oh, and Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill, and Kelly Marie Tran were there, too, but this moment isn’t about them.)

Twitter just had an Oscars first: a commercial.
The company ran an ad during the broadcast, celebrating women with the hashtag #HereWeAre. The black-and-white spot featured prominent women from the entertainment industry reading poetry, ending with the words “this is how you create a new world.”
The #HereWeAre hashtag originated at CES when Twitter organized an event featuring women in the tech industry after the trade show insisted that it couldn’t find any women speakers to keynote the annual event.
We stand with women around the world to make their voices heard and their presence known. To bring them front and center, today and every day. Join us as we say #HereWeAre pic.twitter.com/cN2Ik6bZU8

Kobe Bryant now has an Oscar thanks to everyone who voted for Dear Basketball to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Short.
The short is narrated by Bryant and describes his love for the game, per Deadline.
Bryant, who won along with Glen Keane, left a sour taste in many people’s mouths with his win on Sunday night, considering the former professional basketball player was accused of rape. Terrible always, and particularly not a great look given the current climate of Hollywood and the Time’s Up movement fighting back against men who are accused of sexual assault and harassment.

Jennifer Lawrence continues to insist on treating the Academy Awards as a parkour gymnasium.
During Sunday’s show, J-Law took her annual Relatablex™ pill and once again did something that a celebrity of her stature would never do, but normals sure love. Instead of her time-honored trips to the ground, the star of the best movie of 2017 (mother!), climbed over some theater seats to gab with Meryl Streep.
She hiked up her fancy shmancy gown like it was a pair of shorteralls and stepped her highest of heels over those dirty seats because she’s too busy to walk all the way to the aisle. JUST LIKE I WOULD DO! Read more…

So, here's a bunch of 911 calls from Apple employees walking into glass walls
March 5, 2018Apple’s spaceship-like, nearly all-glass headquarters in Cupertino is certainly beautiful, but it’s proving to cause actual headaches for its employees.
A few weeks ago, reports surfaced of company workers walking into the transparent walls that adorn Apple Park. Well, the San Francisco Chronicle has published the 911 calls to prove it.
Authorities were concerned about the campus design, with Cupertino’s building official Albert Salvador “worried” people weren’t able to tell the difference between an automatic door and a window.
Turns out he was right. Transcripts from three different incidents were published by the newspaper, all made within three days in January. The first call is from Apple security, reporting an injury from a man who suffered a cut to his head. Read more…

This shirt with Timothée Chalamet's face on it is the fiercest Oscars red carpet look
March 5, 2018Sunday’s a big night for fashion — it is the Oscars, after all. And sure, there are some promising candidates for best dressed. (Olympian Adam Rippon and his leather harness, perhaps?)
But an unexpected candidate has pulled into first place: Call Me By Your Name screenwriter James Ivory, who (via People) strode the red carpet wearing a shirt with CMBYN star Timothée Chalamet’s face on it. Both are nominated — Ivory for Best Screenplay and Chalamet for Best Actor.
Let’s take a look at this shirt:
