Here’s one way to crack down on phone use.
The French Parliament voted overwhelmingly (62-1) on Monday to ban smartphones and personal tablets from schools.
France already restrained students from using smartphones and personal tablets during instruction hours since 2010, but the new ban prohibits students aged 3 to 15 from even bringing their devices to school.
And for those 15 years and older, it is up to their respective educational institutions to decide whether they may bring or use their devices at school. Read more…

Professor Trump tweets about 'Alfonse' Capone and truly what the hell is happening?
August 1, 2018Professor Trump has been doing some extensive Googling recently, and he’d like to share the results of his research.
On the second day of Paul Manafort’s trial, Trump took to Twitter to purge the contents of his disordered mind and come to his former campaign manager’s defense.
Manafort, Trump complained, was being treated worse than famous mobster “Alfonse” Capone. (His spelling, not mine.)
“Looking back on history, who was treated worse, Alfonse Capone, legendary mob boss, killer and “Public Enemy Number One,” or Paul Manafort, political operative & Reagan/Dole darling,” Trump wrote in a tweet. Read more…

President Donald Trump may soon have a widely-respected scientist briefing him on the extreme weather walloping the nation.
On Tuesday, The White House announced that Trump intends to nominate atmospheric scientist Kelvin Droegemeier, who is currently the Vice President for Research at the University of Oklahoma, to lead the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, a position Trump hasn’t filled since becoming president 19 months ago.
Trump is the first president in over half a century, since President John F. Kennedy, who hasn’t nominated a science adviser in the first year of his term. The head of the Office of Science and Technology usually assumes the role of science adviser, though the Senate must confirm the nomination before Droegemeier is able to take the post. Read more…

It should not be a surprise that celebrities know you’re tweeting about them.

Each of the tweets to which they’ve responded involves, in some way, the celebrity’s public persona. For example, the most recent one describes “being the Kim Kardashian of the family” as “exhausting.”
“I feel you,” Kardashian West replied.

This deer 'doing laps' in a swimming pool is peak summer fitness motivation
August 1, 2018We can’t fault this deer for trying to sneak in a little outdoor exercise.
On hot and humid Tuesday morning, a New Jersey deer tried his best to escape the heat with a swim in a local backyard pool. Per a report from NBC New York, the deer in question also opted to squeeze in some cardio by taking few “laps” around the pool.
After getting a call from the pool owner, the Hamilton Police Department rushed to the scene of the crime and interrupted the deer’s training by helping it out of the water. According to a Facebook post from the department, the deer “then decided to take in some sun and relax for a few minutes” by the pool. Read more…
