Warning: Spoilers for the first and second seasons of This Is Us are below.
Every Tuesday night I have a fun little tradition where I change into my pajamas, grab a snack, cuddle on my couch with a blanket, and spend one full hour having a good, raw, knuckle-biting, mascara-bleeding kind of cry.
Sound horrible? I’m well aware. But a year and three months ago I decided to let NBC’s heartbreakingly dramatic primetime show, This Is Us, into my life and these weekly sob fests are the repercussion.
I’m not alone. Over 14 million people around the world spend their Tuesday nights the exact same way — willingly allowing the show’s protagonists, the Pearson family, to emotionally destroy them week after week. Read more…

Rescuing animals seems like a rather thankless job at times.
Tell that to New Zealander Robert Tahau, who helped save a seagull that was lying by the side of the road with a broken wing, according to the New Zealand Herald.
Unfortunately for Tahau, the bird didn’t reciprocate the love, pecking Tahau in a video that he uploaded to Facebook. “She’s a vicious one,” he said in the video.
Tahau told the newspaper he planned to take the seagull to a vet or the SPCA, but both were closed. Unfortunately, it died in the meantime, and he gave the bird a proper burial.
Okay, not the happiest of endings — but a nice encounter, nonetheless. Read more…

Dodge gets slammed for using a Martin Luther King Jr. speech in their Super Bowl ad
February 5, 2018Dodge made a misstep on Sunday when it ran a Super Bowl LII ad that used the words of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. to…market trucks.
The car company drew criticism online for pulling from King’s “Drum Major Instinct” speech given 50 years ago on February 4, 1968. As Adweek noted, the official Twitter account for the The King Center made its disapproval clear.
Neither @TheKingCenter nor @BerniceKing is the entity that approves the use of #MLK’s words or imagery for use in merchandise, entertainment (movies, music, artwork, etc) or advertisement, including tonight’s @Dodge #SuperBowl commercial.

Janet Jackson fans were not impressed with Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl halftime show
February 5, 2018Justin Timberlake’s particularly humdrum Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday included a pretty uh, notable Stella McCartney shirt, a contentious Prince tribute, a selfie with a nonplussed kid, and considerable similarities to a Gap Ad.
So, obviously, Janet Jackson fans think she could have done a much, much, much, much better job.
Folks haven’t quite forgotten Timberlake’s role in the supposed “wardrobe malfunction” at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show with Jackson, and how her career took a major hit while his star continued to rise. Read more…

Well, Logan Paul has returned to YouTube and his apology tour is over.
Paul announced his triumphant return in a 12-minute video after a taking a monthlong “break” — AKA his fall from grace following backlash from a video where he discovered a man who died by suicide in Japan’s “suicide forest.”
After a short skit, Paul starts off the vlog with a call to action for his fans to buy his merch, because “YouTube cut my AdSense in half.” While he has always viciously promoted his merch line, the vlog paints Paul as the victim in this scenario.
Though Paul admits he was wrong in the clip, his new vlog signals he’s back to being himself. Perhaps the only thing Paul has gained from the experience is the self-awareness to know a huge portion of the internet wants to see him fail. Read more…
