Amazon patent reveals company's latest idea: a self-destructing delivery drone
December 1, 2017Amazon has a new idea to ensure delivery safety: a self-destruct drone.
On Friday, The Verge reported that Amazon has submitted a patent for a drone that can initiate a crash sequence and break itself into pieces in case of emergencies.
The idea behind the design is simple: If anything goes wrong while an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is delivering your latest Amazon splurge, it’s safer to have a bunch of small drone fragments fall out of the sky instead of one big one. Ok, sure.
The patent is dated Nov. 28, and describes the process for “directed fragmentation” of a drone in the event of “service disruptions due to unsuitable weather conditions, equipment malfunctions, and other problems.” According to the patent: Read more…

While we’ve already established that Donald Trump has had an unusually bizarre week on Twitter, even for him, it seems we maybe finally know why he’s been firing off these random tweets like a drunk monkey with a smartphone.
On Friday morning, Trump’s former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to a single charge of lying to the FBI, which may be a sign that Flynn is now cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

A toilet seat for Trump and a coin case for Spicer: The thrill of White House work orders
December 1, 2017Mice! Cockroaches! A display case for coins! If politicians asking for new toilet seats interests you, look no further than this year’s White House maintenance requests, brought to you by the Freedom of Information Act.
In 2017, officials sent in hundreds of service requests for modifications, repairs, and pest problems in the White House. (Remember, the White House is extremely old.) The vast majority of these are pretty run-of-the-mill — Mike Pence wanted a TV in his office, for example, presumably to watch old episodes of The 700 Club on silent — but they’re still a little fun to peruse.
