Fiona the hippo has had a banner year already, but she just keeps outshining herself.

The latest photo of Fiona is perhaps her cutest yet. Posted by the Cincinnati Zoo on Saturday, it captures an adorable moment between Queen Fiona and a lucky zoo patron whose life will never be the same.

At the very least, she will probably never stop talking about it. Once, I saw Fiona in person from a moderate distance and I talked about it for four weeks straight. (This is a brag and I don’t care.)

Former FBI Director-turned-professional troll James Comey has an Instagram, folks, and he’s mostly using it to subtly talk smack to the Trump administration whilst sharing beautiful pics of this great Earth. 

On Friday, Comey used his first post on Instagram to deliver a thoughtful quote on justice shortly after Donald Trump’s former national security advisor Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia.

Comey ‘grammed again on Saturday, this time sharing a pic of sunrise over the Long Island Sound. “To paraphrase the Buddha,” he wrote, “Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun; the moon; and the truth. ‬” Read more…

Billions of miles from Earth, at the edge of interstellar space, a long-dormant part of a far-flung spacecraft came to life this week. 

After 37 years of disuse, a set of thrusters aboard Voyager 1 activated on Wednesday, firing up humanity’s farthest-flung spacecraft and hopefully giving it a longer life than it had before. 

“With these thrusters that are still functional after 37 years without use, we will be able to extend the life of the Voyager 1 spacecraft by two to three years,” Suzanne Dodd, project manager for Voyager, said in a statement. Read more…

Donald Trump’s lawyer, Ty Cobb, has made a lot of mistakes, including the decision to represent Donald Trump. But among his weirder moves is using navy blue Comic Sans.

On Friday, Cobb released a statement regarding former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, who pled guilty to lying to the FBI in an interview that later came to be a part of Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

Soon after, Sahil Kapur, a national political reporter for Bloomberg, tweeted out a screenshot of Cobb’s statement (which, of course, does not take into account the likely possibility that Flynn has flipped). Read more…
