They say to never meet your heroes, but I did it anyway.
I’ve put Gerard Way — former My Chemical Romance frontman, current comic book writer — on a pedestal for about 13 years. He seemed a genius, an impossibly aloof icon.
But in real life? He’s just a nice dude who is mildly insane and makes weird, good sh*t.
I saw that the second we started talking about our home state, New Jersey. Suddenly it dawns on me: he’s that kid who lived down the block and that everyone thought was a little off because he listened to weird ambient noise while he made comics. Read more…

Footage of dog being rescued from frozen creek will thaw your ice cold heart
December 3, 20172017 is in dire need of heartwarming tales, so here’s one about a dog that fell into a frozen creek and was successfully rescued by a team of firefighters.
Last week, Denis Pilon, a fire chief at Swift Current Fire Department in Canada, shared a video on Facebook of several firefighters and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police rescuing someone’s pet dog.
“STAY OFF THE ICE!!” Pilon wrote, explaining that the dog wandered onto the ice and fell through after its owners let him run off-leash.
To bring the dog back to shore the team secured one of the firefighters with a rope and sent him out onto the frozen water. The ice was so thin that the firefighter also fell through, but thanks to the rope he was able to recover the dog and pull it to safety. Read more…

Beyoncé, queen of everything including online privacy protection, changes her email address so frequently that it’ll make you rethink your entire life.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, singer and recent Beyoncé collaborator Ed Sheeran revealed that his friend Bey changes her email address every damn week. And you probably thought you took extra precautions by occasionally changing your password. LOL.
When describing how he and Bey got in touch to work on their “Perfect” duet, Sheeran spilled about her ~extra~ methods of communication. Read more…

A new video of Mark Hamill has surfaced – or rather, an old video. So old, in fact, that it predates the release of the first Star Wars movie.
Hamill and Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz visited WorldCon’s MidAmeriCon in 1976 to talk about their bizarre and ambitious upcoming picture. They’re welcomed to the stage with polite applause which feels far, far away from the echoing screams of Comic-Con Hall H.
In a Q&A during which Kurtz says he hopes Star Wars won’t be over two hours, where someone asks about “light swords,” and where Hamill pokes fun at his own line “Gee, it’s lucky we had these compartments” and refers to Chewbacca as a “big ape man” (“More like a dog, or a big furry bear with a dog’s nose. Very huggable,” adds Kurtz), what’s truly remarkable is looking back into a room where no one had any concept of how Star Wars would eventually change the world. Read more…

The end of the year is almost here and that means Instagram is about to, again, be flooded with “top nine” memes.
Luckily, we now have a handy tool to help create the collages we can’t ever seem to get enough of.
The Top Nine app simplifies the process so you can find your most-liked posts of 2017 with just a few taps. All you have to do is enter your username (you’ll need to log in if your account is private) and the app spits out a collage with all your best shots, along with a few stats from your account.
The app’s creators, which have created similar products in past years, say that the 2017 edition was designed so that the collages are formatted vertically, so users can add them to their Stories, rather than upload them as a standalone post. Read more…
