Director Roomi Insha, son of popular Urdu columnist, poet and writer Ibne Insha, passed away on Monday in Karachi, due to a heart attack, his sister Saima Siddiqui confirmed to The Express Tribune.
“He had been unwell recently and today at around 12 or 1 in the afternoon, he suffered a major stroke,” she said. “He was taken to the South City Hospital but couldn’t be revived.”

Siddiqui said that their mother Shakila Insha passed away last month and that had affected Roomi a lot.
Roomi was a freelance filmmaker, who started his career as a graphic designer. He was known for television serials such as Najiah, Mannchalay, Tair-e-Lahooti, Mohabbat Ruth Jaye Tou, Mastana Mahi, Mausam, Judai and recently Rasm-e-Duniya.
Many from the entertainment fraternity took to social media to commemorate him.
Armeena Khan who had worked extensively with Roomi posted a sentimental message on social media.
She said: “The most painful goodbyes are the ones that are never said… RIP Roomi Insha I am in utter shock. I can’t believe that you are gone. I am so lucky that we got to work on #RasmEDuniya with you. You will be missed. I still can’t believe it. Samina Peerzada Sami Khan Bilal Abbas Khan
