Literary Twitter is all in a tizzy, and we couldn’t be more delighted, because the burns are piping hot, and the subject of the controversy is novelist extraordinaire Jane Austen.
On Friday, the Washington Post ran an essay about the fact that Jane Austen never married, despite the fact that marriage and courtship were her main subjects in books like Pride and Prejudice and Emma. But the ~scandal~ really got going after the Post tweeted out the piece on Sunday.

He’s here. Following protracted delays, a robotic version of Trump has been installed into Disney World’s Hall of Presidents.
The hall was meant to reopen on Jun. 30, but will now be open from Tuesday after a year-long transformation.
Contrary to initial reports that he may be nodding in silence alongside many of the other 44 presidents on display, Trump has voiced remarks “exclusively” for the audio-animatronic figure on display, according to a Disney Parks blog post.
The speech is obviously very G-rated and presidential, unlike the tweets and things Trump has said in the past about women. George Washington introduces Trump, who recites the oath of office. Read more…
