LAHORE: About two million olive plants will be distributed among farmers in order to set up Olive Valley in the city, sources in the agriculture department told the APP on Tuesday.
At present 69 varieties of olives were successfully being cultivated in the country, sources said. The added that the Barani Institute had prepared two olive varieties one is Barani Olive 1 and Barani Olive 2 and both were going good in the country’s weather conditions.
Olive tree plantations completed across 3,166 acres in Potohar region
Till now olive is cultivated on approximately 10,000 acres of land in the country and 3,000 acres of this land is in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal and Khushab.
