Snapchat offers special filter to unite kids across the country on National Walkout Day

Students across the country participated in National School Walkout Day on Wednesday to protest gun violence — and a special Snapchat filter has emerged as a big part of their efforts.

One look at a Snap Map of the east coast (just after 10 am ET, when the walkout began) reveals that, naturally, this day of action is being heavily documented on the social platform.

Many of those posting about the protest are using the special filter, which reads “What ____’s schoolday looks like” (with the space being filled by each city or school’s name), and depicts an illustration of protestors and signs.  Read more…
