The social media phenomenon #MeToo has gone global.
People have used the hashtag in Europe, Australia, the Middle East and beyond to talk about sexual abuse.

The #MeToo posts blew up in the U.S. after actor Alyssa Milano wrote “Me too” on her Twitter feed on Sunday as more and more women accused producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault and harassment. Since that post, the hashtag was used in 1.2 million tweets, a Twitter spokesperson said Thursday.
Since it went viral, the true origins of the expression were traced back to activist Tarana Burke, who started using it 10 years ago to support women of color surviving sexual abuse. Read more…
