John Mayer's green screen music video is a meme dream come true

John Mayer’s new music video is uh, something else. 

In the teaser he tweeted Wednesday, apparently his song “New Light” was so good, it required a music video fast. Like, really fast. 

“Where literally any video is better than nothing,” the teaser says, before cutting to a clip of Mayer hanging out with a zebra and waving … to himself?

And the video, released Thursday, is amazing. From the opening shot — a title screen that misspells the artist as “John Mayor” — to the clips of Mayer dancing on a mountain with a miniature version of himself, this video has the makings of a quality meme. Read more…
