There's currently no interracial couple emoji. Tinder wants to change that.
February 28, 2018Emoji have evolved faster than any other language in history. But, one thing that’s lagged behind is the ability to represent everyone.
One community that’s still not represented at all by these tiny glyphs is interracial couples, and Tinder wants to do something about that.
The dating app has created a Change.org petition urging the Unicode Consortium — the organization in charge of our emoji — to create an emoji that represents interracial couples.
“There’s an emoji for everything. Well, almost everything,” declares Tinder in a video to accompany its #representlove emoji campaign. “Isn’t it time emoji represented all love?” Read more…

For millions of years after the Big Bang, the universe was a cold place filled with hydrogen and helium created at the dawn of the universe.
And then, suddenly, there was light.
For the first time, a team of astronomers think they’ve detected a signal from some of the first stars that formed less than 180 million years after the Big Bang.
Two new studies published in the journal Nature this week detail new evidence about when those stars formed after the Big Bang.
The new work also opens up questions about those early eons after the universe came to be, and may even reveal cracks in our understanding of physics. Read more…

'Black Panther' writer Ta-Nehisi Coates will take on 'Captain America' next
February 28, 2018Captain America didn’t have such a great 2017, but his 2018 is off to a great start.
Ta-Nehisi Coates has already done incredible work with Marvel’s Black Panther comics, and now the journalist and author has revealed his next project: Captain America. His first issue — Captain America #1 — drops on July 4, 2018.
Coates discusses his new Marvel gig at length in a personal essay published by The Atlantic. He makes it clear he’s not leaving Black Panther behind, but the opportunity to also work on Cap was too exciting to resist. Read more…
