Canadian hockey player apologizes for removing silver medal during ceremony

February 23, 2018

Thursday’s women’s ice hockey gold medal game was an emotional one for players on both teams, especially for Canadian Jocelyne Larocque who was clearly displeased with her team’s loss against rival USA.

The player took a bit of heat for removing her silver medal during the post-game ceremony and holding it in her hand for the duration of the event. The Globe and Mail reports that an International Ice Hockey Federation official later “forced” Larocque to wear the medal.
