This teen slept through his alarm because of Netflix and still won gold at the Olympics

Red Gerard may be an Olympic snowboarder, but he’s still a typical 17-year-old at heart.

The teenager overslept after a late night of bingeing Brooklyn Nine-Nine, ignoring the alarm he had set because he was supposed to compete on Sunday morning. 

Gerard should have been awake at 6 a.m. But, as Yahoo reports, his teammate Kyle Mack had to drag him out of bed. He then realized that he had lost his jacket, and had to borrow Mack’s for the competition. 

And despite the late start and rough morning, Gerard still won a gold medal, the first for a U.S. team at this year’s Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. His three snowboarding runs won a combined score of 87.16 out of 100, placing him first over Canada’s silver medal winner, Max Parrot.  Read more…
