Russell Simmons to 'step aside' from companies in the wake of new sexual assault allegation
November 30, 2017Music mogul Russell Simmons has announced that he will “step aside” from his companies in the wake of a new sexual assault allegation from screenwriter Jenny Lumet.
In a harrowing open letter published by The Hollywood Reporter, Lumet recalls a night around 1991 when Simmons allegedly offered her a ride home from a restaurant, but refused to take her back to her apartment, instead taking her to his residence in a locked car.
Lumet alleges coercive behavior from Simmons and his driver to get her into his building, and the fear she felt once Simmons had her alone:
In response, Simmons released a statement to THR apologizing to Lumet for his behavior and announcing that he plans to “step aside” from his businesses, which include Def Jam Enterprises, Def Pictures, Def Comedy Jam, Celsius, Tantris and RushCard, along with several charitable foundations: Read more…

Verizon's 5G internet is coming in 2018, but it's not what you think it is
November 30, 2017Think your phone’s 4G LTE internet speed is fast? Think again.
In the second half of 2018, Verizon will deploy its blazing-fast 5G wireless network to the lucky (and those willing to pay) in Sacramento, Calif. But don’t get too psyched for wireless internet that could be 30-to-50 times faster than your current 4G speeds, because it’s only 5G for your home… not a connection that can be used outside.
Sacramento will be one of the first five U.S. markets that Verizon’s 5G network for the home will launch in. The other four will be announced later, the company says. Read more…

Drake put his rap career on hold for a sideline reporting gig at the Toronto Raptors game
November 30, 2017Drake might be the Toronto Raptors’ biggest fan, and he’d give up his career to talk to them more.
The rapper spent last night at Toronto Raptors vs. Charlotte Hornets game and took on a few roles in the process. He got the opportunity to serve as a sidelines reporter in the basketball game and talk to some of his heroes.
Let’s just say he should stick to his day job.
